PATTERN REVIEW
I used the Sicily dress pattern from Sewing Patterns by Masin. I fell in love with slip dresses a few years ago and most of the ones I own are black so I am “sew” happy to be adding some color to my wardrobe with this pattern! I have made this pattern three times and the first time my fabric didn’t have enough drape. This was my second make and I will be sharing the third edition soon – I did some hacking and loved the results! I can’t remember where I got this green fabric but I found a really close match for you over at Melanated Fabrics. This dress is cut on the bias and this pattern was my first time ever doing that but the instructions made me feel prepared and I would like to think I slayed it!
MODIFICATIONS
I didn’t need to modify this dress at all! I did, however, attempt to make it scrunch on one side because of the shape it didn’t come out the way I imagined but I still love the added detail it gives the look.
ADDITIONS TO THE LEWK
I decided to pair my sicily dress with a black turtleneck for some added warmth as the temperature is starting to dip down in Atlanta. I also love the look with both my Dr. Marten boots as well as my Steve Madden booties (old, but similar ones here). I brought along my me-made coat just in case! The red sunnies are from Target and my cute little red purse was a thrift find!
