Ankara & Lace: Match Made in Africa

I loved my last Ankara make so much that I had to collaborate once again with Ankara and Lace and this time I was sure to not forget the lace! They sell Ankara and Lace paired fabric options and are nice enough to take a request. I purchased the Ankara fabric in the Bashir set but I wanted white lace instead from the Faida set.

Pattern Info: For the top I used Simplicity 8602 view C. I made one modification which was leaving off the flounce and only cutting out the upper sleeve section with the hem line landing on the edge of the lace. I really enjoyed not having to hem the top or the sleeves. For the pants I used Simplicity 8389 view B which I also modified. I lengthened the front flat waistband and shortened the back waistband so that the elastic doesn’t come around to the front as much as it does in the original pattern. Next time I make these pants I will shorten the elastic waistband section in the back a little less.

Only picture I got with this side of the pants so….here you go lol!

I also decided to pattern match and on one side I ended up with perfectly matched seams and then on the other side I ended up with mirror images. I love the character it gives my pants and I have no idea how that happened…perhaps I needed a nap lol. Overall I am pleased with this look!
