Indie Sew x Dan Lehman x Spoonflower Collab

Let’s talk about these pants today…better yet this fabric! So a few weeks ago Allison of Indie Sew contacted me and asked if I would be interested in doing a collaboration with her, Dan Lehman and Spoonflower. If you don’t already know I love my friends over at Spoonflower so I was all in! I got to choose one of the two designs made by Dan L. and then one of the two substrates it would be printed on. I chose cotton poplin.  Then I decided what I wanted to make with it. I used Simplicity 1887 view A and I added the ties from view C.

Ok. SO I know you are wondering who is Dan? Where can you get this fabric? How did he create this design? And if you DO NOT know what Spoonflower is you HAVE to be wondering what that is!? Custom fabric?? No worries, I have ALL of the answers for you!

You can get an insider look at how these pants were designed right here on Spoonflower’s blog. Then head over to Indie Sew to hear more about their collaboration with Dan Lehman. More importantly, you can this very same fabric HERE and if you are interested in seeing more of Dan’s work you can do so here!

Oh yes, the top! I knew I wanted a white top with dramatic sleeves to pair with these pants. I also knew that I wanted to find a cheap top…I am budgeting hardcore and I love to save! Well I ran to Forever 21 and this their clearance was an additional 50% off sale price and so I knew that was the section for me! I got this top for $6!

Now keep scrolling to see more of the magic I was able to make with this awesome fabric!

    Hi,
I love the trousers! Did you make lots of fitting adjustments or did you size down? Your pants looks less voluminous than on the pattern envelope. I’m a sewing beginner, appologies if I’m not seeing something that’s really obvious.

No apologies necessary love! My waist is 27.5″ and my hips are 38.5″. I made a size 14 (28″/38″) and I did not make any major adjustments. The only change I made was using less elastic to make the waist fit tighter. I hope that helps! I feel as though sometimes the garments aren’t always made to fit model’s actual size!
