I am super excited to share this with you all! So I had been wanting to model in Gainesville Fashion Week for a few years now but I always missed the open model call due to other things and then they stopped having the actual show. I had a conversation with Albey via the GFW Facebook account and was telling him how I wanted to be involved with GFW in some capacity but at the time he informed me that they had no runway events coming up this season. Fast forward, to three weeks later, Albey reached out to me via Facebook and asked if I would be interested in styling a photo shoot he was doing in honor of Black History Month for GFW and of course I said YAAAASSSSSSS!! This would be my first time styling others and I was excited about it because I would be using my original pieces along with other fabrics from my stash.
This photo shoot was done by Albey of Gainesville Fashion Week and is published in HOME Magazine (on pg. 32). You can find your copy of the magazine at one of the listed locations here.
Behind The Scene
So I initially went there to be the stylist and I saw this amazing hair piece Alex from Mode Salon Gainesville had created for the shoot and I asked to try it on– you know for kicks and giggles (see below). Little did I know that trying it on would lead to everyone saying that I HAD TO MODEL IT because it was perfect on me. At that moment I took the opportunity to live out what would be the first step to one of my dreams- Modeling in a magazine. This is only the beginning for me. Next month I will be featured in SEWN Magazine in something I MADE! Come to think of it…I MADE the dress I am wearing and the tracksuit pants. 🙂
Stay Classy and Stylish…until next time!
